About Us

Zani’s Et Al is more than just a store — it’s a part of me. A piece of my heart. A living tribute to my sister and our shared hustle.

My sister Nicolette and I started this business in 2019, fuelled by creativity, grit, and that Trini-style “make it happen” energy. The name Zani was a blend of Zanette and Nicolette — because we were in this together from day one. I handled the back end of the business — sourcing, organizing, and managing the day-to-day. She was the face, the vibe, the connection.

The “Et Al” part? That was intentional too. It means “and others,” and it was our way of leaving the door wide open for whatever we wanted to build next — from nail supplies, pet care, puppy care, grooming, virtual assistant services, to cellphone sales and repairs, and whatever wild hustle came after that. We weren’t just starting a store; we were creating a space for every idea we dared to try.

Nicolette had a way with people — she could charm, sell, and build relationships like she was born for it. She was unstoppable. If she could get her hands on it, she could sell it — old phones, laptops, nail kits, pet supplies, you name it. But her hustle didn’t stop at selling. Nicolette had this fearless curiosity that pushed her to learn whatever skill she needed to make things work.

At one point, she taught herself how to repair phones. She’d find broken or outdated devices, and I’d help her source parts like replacement screens and batteries. She’d fix them up, flip them, and move on to the next. That was our rhythm — me in the background, her on the frontlines, and both of us making it happen.

But she wasn’t just about business. She was also an artist, pouring herself into sketching, painting, and building something of her own. One of her proudest achievements was opening her own nail studio: Karelle’s Nails. Watching her bring that dream to life was unforgettable.

And if that wasn’t enough, she had a special connection with animals. Nicolette was a trained dog handler and an all-around animal whisperer. She could teach just about any creature with nothing but patience and love — even chickens. Yes, she trained chickens once, just to prove she could. That was her: bold, funny, endlessly surprising, and always chasing what others thought impossible.

When COVID-19 took her in January of 2022, everything changed. I couldn’t imagine continuing the store without her — so I didn’t. I shut everything down. Grieving her and trying to move on felt impossible.

In 2024, I tried to bring Zani’s Et Al back — but I wasn’t ready.
Now, in 2025, I am.

For every late-night idea we scribbled down. For every order we packed by hand. For every dream we dared to dream, loudly. This is for her, for me, for us.
